"Confessions of a Bareback Top" is Fiction
“Confessions of a Bareback Top” is a blog by a guy who says he advertises himself as a “safe sex top” but then gets the bottoms he fucks to go raw and take his load. I’m guessing most of you have read the blog at one point or another… I think some of what he says is probably true, and it can definitely be an entertaining read, but I’m now absolutely convinced some of the big details that make him so controversial are completely made up…
Let’s take his latest post… He talks about hooking up with a “kid” off Craigslist, doctoring the condom and fucking the kid raw when the kid thinks he’s got a condom on, and then cumming in the kid’s ass. Not only does he call his trick a “kid”, but he insinuates that he might be a virgin - it’s all in there to make people feel more strongly (one way or the other) when reading the story - which does make for a good read…
But what gives ‘Confessions’ away is the details of how things went when he bit a hole in the condom… First off, have you ever tried to bite a hole in the tip of a condom while having sex without the other person noticing? I have (years ago - not in that headspace anymore). It’s not easy and the one or two times I tried I was unsuccessful - the condom did just fine. If he really did write up how that went it would be pretty funny, ’cause he’d keep biting and biting and nothing would be happening and the kid would be like “fuck me already”…
Next he says (more than once) that the condom stayed on the shaft of his dick and just the head was uncovered. That’s just pure bullshit. I have had condoms fail on me before (intentionally and accidentally - again years ago - don’t touch the things anymore), and after one or two strokes the condom is all bunched up at the base of my dick like a bit messy plastic bag.
If you don’t believe me - try it yourself… Just try to discretely bite a hole in a condom and see how long it takes you to actually puncture the rubber. Then when you do finally get a small hole in there (use a knife or razor blade when you give up trying to bite a hole in it), put it over your hard dick and masturbate a little and you’ll see what happens. But realize ‘Confessions’ has said in the past he’s got a big dick, and the kid’s hole was tight, and that he was fucking the kid pretty hard. I know there’s no way in hell to keep a condom on the shaft of a big dick that’s pounding a tight hole…
IMHO, ‘Confessions’ not only didn’t do what he said, but he’s never doctored a condom in his life. If he had, he’d know it just doesn’t work the way he described…
Some of what ‘Confessions’ says is true. He’s fucked a couple of guys I’ve fucked (at least he says he has) and in one particular case, he described the guy’s personality pretty perfectly. But I think he likes to embellish some of the details pretty significantly… When he said he barebacked the husband of an A-list celebrity all sorts of people tried to guess who the guy was. He told me some of the comments got pretty close, and even told me who the person was. I’m tempted to spill the beans, but it’s really irrelevant - ’cause it’s all fiction… He may have actually fucked some guy in the bathroom of a mostly straight club, and the guy might have had a passing resemblance to the husband of a big name actress, but seriously…
Bottom line, Confession’s sex life is just too spectacular, and now there are serious holes in some of the critical details. I think there are elements of truth to it… I think plenty of “safe sex” guys will forego condoms in the heat of the moment, and there are definitely tops out there that will cum in a guy’s ass when the bottom doesn’t want it. I know, I’ve been there… Hell, I’ve even taken off a condom half way through having sex and then cum in the guy’s ass… [Again, not in that headspace anymore - so don't have a tizzy, plus I knew I was neg (and still am).] I’ve even barebacked “monogamous” boyfriends, but you don’t have notable sex every week or two. I’m not saying you shouldn’t read Confessions (he’ll stay in my blogroll), I’m just saying you should take a lot of what he says with a grain of salt, ’cause chances what you’re reading is at least partially fiction…
Incidentally, from a professional standpoint, what he’s done (intentionally or inadvertently) is brilliant Internet marketing - but that’s the subject for another post…

I’ve just become confident in a hunch I’ve had for a while… That Confessions is the same guy who for years kept literally begging me to fuck him and cum in his ass. For starters, I’m not even close to being the premier barebacker. In fact, I’m not even trying to be the premier barebacker - I’m happy with who I am - someone with a diverse life has a somewhat boring sex life who just writes about the ups and downs of things. It actually amazes me there are so many people interested in what I write.

I’ve read your comment and am still not convinced that you’re not motivated out of envy or because there are similarities in what you both do.

I really don’t see what the big deal is. Given all the people calling ‘Confessions’ ‘evil’ and one even calling him ‘a douche bag’, my statement is tame by comparison.
Plus, people have been debating the truth/fiction thing regarding Confessions for a while now. It’s not a new topic - I just chimed in on it.
The aspect I didn’t put in my last comment ’cause I couldn’t phrase it properly at the time is that guys who bareback are being judged by society. I think the people passing judgments are somewhat misguided, but I guess it bothers me somewhat that people would make an opinion about bareback tops in general based on reading some fiction on a blog they assumed was true.
Confessions’ writing style has always been a bit hyped. He used to tell me one-on-one that the details weren’t always as fantastic as they sounded (for example - plenty of time passing for the bottom to say ‘no’ and saying nothing, but when it was written up the time element was missing and it came off as non-consensual.)
Let’s make it clear what’s fiction and only be judged on what we actually do. Not that I feel it’s necessary to for society to understand us, but at least when there are spikes of publicity they should be realistic - not based on fiction. Confessions is all about getting publicity that confuses people’s understanding of us. I no longer feel that’s a good thing…

For starters, he doesn’t deny it’s fiction. But he knows better than to say “50x more popular” ’cause we used to share stats and when he came back I added him back into my Google Analytics expecting him to do the same (he didn’t)…
When he was at the top of his game, not including the spikes in traffic he got from sites like gawker and queerty, he was getting about 900-1200 visits a day when i was getting 600-700 visits a day - that’s only about 50% more popular. Sure, there were spikes where he’d get a few thousand visits a day, but most of those people hated his guts and the spikes say more about the power of the sites that linked to him and not so much about his “popularity”.
Since I’ve added the stories section and the porn section and started fucking a bit more, my traffic has gone up considerably. Earlier this week I had 899 visits to the site, though that was largely due to traffic from being on the home page of the gay section at bestmaleblogs.com and it will go down a bit…
All in all, I’m happy with how things are going with the blog and don’t feel Confession’s blog threatens me in any way. He used to be cooperative and we’d send each other traffic. Now I send him 3 times more than he sends me. In the past month I’ve sent him over 1,000 visitors and he’s sent me 313 visitors.
The other thing that makes me convinced doherfucker is the same person as Confessions is the intensity and consistency of their arguements. Again… Whatever…

hmmm… the way I put it was if you use an oil based lube on your dick before you put the extra thin condom on it will be very weak and if you then pull back on it sliding it down tight around the cock to the breaking limit and force your dickhead forward through the end of the rubber it will extrude slowly through a small rip. the hole winds up being fairly tightly wrapped just behind the knob… perhaps he didn’t discuss the underlying methodology but a small bite might facilitate the one-handed operation of the slight of hand maneuver without recourse to more aggressive methods of sabotage to undermine the condom’s durability. Back in the day when I still occasionally used rubbers, I always used the thinnest rubbers I could get and almost always used oil based lube, and I always lubed my dick before putting on the condom - and I never had a condom break on me…
What lubing your dick first does accomplish is that the rubber will slide up and down on your dick and it will wind up usually covering half your dick or less as it gradually slides down your dick (a few times I’d pull out and find it clinging to the head of my dick). But it never actually broke.
Plus, a thin condom would rip even faster than a thick one simply because it’s thinner.
